Congratulations to Sutton Park Student, Liam McManus who reached the final of Sky Arts Guitar Star after a long and exciting series of progrmames on Sky Arts Television during the summer. This television series was watched by thousands of people all over Britain and Ireland and received wide critical acclaim.
Only 15 players, of all ages, from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales were selected to play at the auditions from a selection pool of thousands. Liam reached the heats as one of four players from each genre (Classical, Rock and Acoustic) and competed for a place in the semi-finals. The classical heats were held at Milton Court, London. Before the heat, Liam was given a master class by the world famous musician, Milos Karadaglic.
The winners of each heat were challenged to record a track at Abbey Road Studios. Liam was one of three semi-finalists who progressed to this stage and he recorded with David Bowie's producer in Abbey Road. This will surely be a lifetime memory.
Liam was the finalist in the Classical Guitar Genre and part of his prize was an invitation to play on the Alcove Stage at the Latitude Festival.
