The Modern Language Department teachers
Anne Dowling
Head of Modern Languages
Department
Sutton Park School Modern Languages Department is one of the most vibrant Departments in the entire School. French and German are taught, at Higher level, from First to Sixth Year. Italian and Spanish are subject choices available to students from Transition Year upwards.

The Modern Languages Department is involved in an exciting and imaginative range of activities throughout the year, devised to support the course. Annual exchange trips to the native countries are usually organised. Our students stay in the homes of their exchange partners and tour around the city and countryside, and on the return visit, their partner students are likewise feted.

Language students research various European countries and on World Languages Day, come to school dressed in native or folk dress and offer the food of their chosen country to their fellow students.

Sutton Park teams successfully participate in German and French Debates against other schools.

The Modern Languages Department is just that - modern!
