TRANSITION YEAR CYCLE

Vision/Aims
This course develops further the skills and knowledge of the Junior Cert with heightened cultural awareness. The aim is to foster a love of the language through film, literature, magazines, songs & festivities of the target language.

Approaches & Methodologies
Bridging the gap between junior and senior cycles with a more communicative, creative approach.

Curriculum Content
Furthering communicative proficiency, language and cultural awareness.

Accumulate information and material for project. Vocabulary learning, listening, reading comprehensions

SENIOR CYCLE CURRICULUM
Vision/Aims
The aim of the course is to give learners the skills and knowledge that they require in order to communicate aurally, orally and in writing in the target language. The course draws on the junior syllabus and develops further the skills and knowledge acquired at this level.

Course Objectives
To provide the learners with an opportunity to use the grammar structures and vocabulary both in their written work and to communicate orally with each other in the target language. Basic communicative proficiency, language and cultural awareness will be taught in an integrated way using the communicative approach

i) Basic communicative proficiency (ii) language awareness including the 4 skills: aural, oral, written and reading (iii) cultural awareness
