| Additional Senior Subjects Subject to availability of staff, Applied Mathematics is an optional extra subject, which is taught outside the normal curriculum and is usually scheduled after School. Further information available from the office.
Clubs: Junior School Clubs Subject to availability of staff, clubs covering a wide range of interests are offered to Grades 4, 5 & 6. Choir and Orchestra Students are encouraged to participate in the school choir and orchestra. Practices are normally held on Monday and Tuesday afternoons and there are usually at least two performances annually.
Musical Instruments Tuition Individual tuition in musical instruments including piano, violin, guitar, flute, trumpet and recorder is available. Classes are scheduled throughout the day and after School. Please contact the Music Department for details. Our annual Musical Evenings gives students the opportunity to display their musical talents.
Sports Every Senior student is assigned to one of three Houses, Lambay, Balscadden or Baily, for the purpose of in-house competitions. Throughout the year, the results of intramural matches in Hockey, Badminton, Swimming and Athletics, are converted to points which are awarded to each House. On Sports Day which is held annually in May, swimming competitions and athletics events take place. Tuition in Badminton may be arranged with the Sports staff.
Trips An annual trip to Killarney National Park is organised for all Fifth Year Biology students. Details from Ms. Tattersall.
MUN (Model United Nations) Students use their debating skills at International MUN events. Sutton Park School MUN Teams normally attend three conferences annually, in Dublin, the UK and the Hague. Interested students may contact the MUN Director.
Outdoor Pursuits Course An integral part of the Transition Year Programme, this is a valuable team-building event which helps to develop develop co-operation and teamwork, to improve students' self-image and to introduce them to sporting activities they may never have experienced. Students are expected to participate in this five day residential course which is specially designed for TransitionYear. Further details from Mr Walsh, the Transition Year Co-Ordinator.
Religious Education Weekly First Communion classes are available for Roman Catholic pupils in Grade II of the Junior School. Confirmation classes are available for pupils in Grade V and Grade VI (two year course). All classes are given after school hours. Contact Ms McGuire for further details.
Summer Camp The school runs an annual Summer Camp in the first two weeks of July for children in the locality. The camp includes a wide range of activities and sports suited to the different age groups. Brochures are available from reception around May time. Interested local families should collect the brochure from the Office and return completed with their payment.
